Goodwill Industries of Tenneva, Inc.

97.3 LOVE FM would like to welcome Goodwill Industries of Tenneva, Inc. as part of our “Show Em Some Love” Business Spotlight this week!

Goodwill is more than a thrift store! All donations impact the community in ways that one wouldn’t realize and they provide employment services to the community “changing lives through the power of work.”

Goodwill believes:

-that work is transformational and can form the cornerstone of a person’s life!

-that “their most powerful assets are the people they employ”

In 2021:

-Goodwill helped more than 700 people strengthen their career skills

-Goodwill of Tenneva recovered 5.94 million pounds of people’s used goods, giving these items a second life

Goodwill is all about giving chances to those with disabilities, mental barriers, emotional barriers, social barriers, and misdemeanors. The donors are the life behind their success, and Goodwill’s pledge to donors and shoppers are facilities that are clean, neat, organized, safe, and barrier free; stores that are full with fresh inventory, and that something good always happens with each donation!

The mission of Goodwill is to provide employment services to those in need and their revenue supports their mission the goals of Goodwill are aimed at the needs of the community and they are open to ideas and suggestions from the public in addition to volunteer services. Goodwill of Tenneva serves the community through a variety of targeted internal and external programs and partnerships such as; digital skills, on-track program for employees, senior community service employment program, veteran success program, and workforce development services.

Goodwill of Tenneva offers:

-skills to succeed academy for individuals seeking to build their career skills, get ahead in the workforce, and for those facing employment barriers.

-service learning partnerships

-students can complete service hours by high school students and college students seeking to meet course, financial aid, or graduation requirements

-a senior community service employment program

-giving older workers an opportunity to refresh their skills, re-enter the workforce, and make some money (must be 55+, a virginia resident, unemployed, low income, a desire to learn)

Goodwill’s Richlands store is expanding and the grand re-opening is scheduled for late May/early June.
